This is a post for all of my rookie home decorators out there (a classification which I fall into myself). As far as commitments go, buying a few plants seems like a baby step. But in the home-decor world, it’s one of the biggest commitments you can make! I mean it’s practically like having a pet. You can’t go on vacation, or even leaf the house for too long without aloe-cating a plant-sitter.
Choosing the right plants is key to ensuring your success as a new plant parent. Good thing Emma is here to help you navigate so you can have a beautiful home in no thyme!
ZZ Plant
Don’t be afraid to catch lots of Zzz’s on your Emma mattress next to a Zamioculacas Zamiifolia. The ZZ plant is one of the easiest plants to parent indoors. It only requires watering 3 times a month and does not need to be exposed to much sunlight.
Aloe Vera
You’ve probably heard of the amazing health benefits of aloe. The good news is it happens to be a very house-friendly plant too! It thrives in indirect sunlight and only requires water about once every three weeks. In no time, you’ll be saying aloe to your new little friend!
Lucky Bamboo
Meet your new bam-boo. Lucky bamboo is grown in a vase of water which only needs to be changed every 2-4 weeks. It is also a great plant for the bedroom as it grows best in indirect sunlight.
Cactus
It’s no secret that a cactus is a low-maintenance indoor plant. Living in the desert with little access to water, it would be tough for you to kill one. While they do require sunlight, it is not nearly as much as the desert provides. So, keep your home looking sharp with a few cacti!
Spider Plant
This is one spider that you won’t want to kill (and one that isn’t easy to). It is one of the fastest growing indoor plants. During its growth period, the spider plant requires weekly watering. But once it has grown to maturity, you can attend to it much less often.
Fiddle Leaf Fig
How about taking a leaf of faith with the fiddle leaf fig! This tree thrives in sunlight, but grows well indoors next to a window. It is best to underwater these indoor plants, as they can easily absorb too much water.
Monstera Deliciosa
This plant is neither monstrous nor delicious, but it will look great in your home. These plants are notorious for growing in varying levels of sunlight, so you have total freedom regarding where you place it in your house.
Shamrock Plant
The shamrock plant may bring some luck to your home, but it will definitely bring some life. Its super green leaves with delicate white flowers add a pop of color to any room along with a nice subtle scent. The shamrock is one of the great indoor plants. It requires watering constantly for a few days in a row, but then it can survive for months without any!
Whether or not you think you’re a “plant person,” these plants will liven up your home with very little effort to you! So if you haven’t botany plants for your bedroom yet, get on it! Romaine calm and follow these instructions, and you’ll be on your way to an unbeleafably beautiful home.
